Bengaluru’s National Institute of Fashion Technology is hosting its first ever GreenStitched Film Festival on Feb. 18. The event will feature all day screenings of sustainable fashion documentaries that will support the industry’s eco-friendly garment initiatives.

Abercrombie & Fitch is providing a major update to its brick-and-mortar locations. For the first time in 15 years, the retailer will debut a new store concept, which will create a more intimate shopping experience for consumers with shop-in-shops and a cohesive material palette. A&F’s first updated store will open on Feb. 17 at the Columbus-based Polaris Fashion Mall in Ohio.

W.L. Gore & Associates announced new environmental goals for 2020, including achieving Bluesign approval for 85 percent of consumer garments laminate volume, receiving Oeko-Tex Certification for 100 percent of its consumer garment products and eliminating PFCs (perfluorinated chemicals) from 85 percent of the company’s apparel, accessories and footwear goods.
Anna Wintour, Vogue’s longest standing editor-in-chief, had an intimate discussion with The Wall Street Journal about how designers will creatively bring consumers back, despite the hot political landscape and declining luxury sector.

President Trump may have tampered with ethics over Nordstrom’s decision to remove Ivanka Trump products. Trump, via his own Twitter account and the official POTUS account, spoke out against the retailer’s treatment of his daughter, which could cause a conflict between political and personal affiliations.
Reformation founder Yael Aflalo told Fast Company that technology could be the catalyst for fashion industry innovation. Merging the two concepts, according to Aflalo, could elevate apparel in terms of sustainability and advanced retail spaces.

Graphene-based product manufacturer Directa Plus announced that Colmar, a high-end sportswear company, debuted a new ski jacket collection that contains the company’s graphene-based products. Directa Plus’ technology allows fabric to protect the body against the external environment with thermal regulation capabilities.
